HALL REPAIRS & RE-OPENING
We have recently refurbished the village hall back to a working condition. Down through the years the hall has been maintained from time to time and again in 2009 it has had a facelift. We would like to thank the tradesmen and helpers who gave their time to carry out the essential works to make the hall a warm and inviting place once again. To celebrate the re-opening of the hall Ballynacally development held a festive afternoon on Saturday the 5th with a special visit from Santa and lots of other entertainment.
Renovation works will continue into the new year, any Plumbers out there with a little time to spare to help repair the heating system would be very welcome.
Picutes here of work to date....

Tidy Towns awards2009 Tidy Towns Adjoudicators report click here
A delegation of Ballynacally Tidy Towns Committee attended the Royal hospital in Kilmainham, Co. Dublin on September 6th for the supervalu Tidy Towns award ceremony.
With Ennis receiving the tidiest largest urban centre award only 1 point below Emily the overall winners. It was announced that Ballynacally had recieved a Silver medal for the 2nd year in a row and scored only 6 points below the winners Emily, with a fantastic score of 299.
The link above outlines the adjoudicators report, which shows where we scored well and where there may be room for improvement.
A copy of this report will be distributed to the local villagers soon. The committee would like to sincerly thank all those who dedicated their time and helped out in any way, whether watering flowers, weeding, painting or making their own houses more beautiful etc, well done and thank you, the village was a credit to you.
Of course our village could not have looked so well were it not for the FAS community services team who worked on maintaining our village greens and helped with the watering of the shrub beds and hanging baskets, and helped with the litter watch etc, we are indeed lucky to have this scheme in our village, thanks to its members.
We now await the presentation of the Silver medal at the local Tidy Towns awards ceremony

........................................................................................................................... New Playground The playground opened (unofficially) on the 30th May and at a special ceremony it was officially opened on the 1st of August 2009. The Development association have had the fair green landscaped and a stone sculptured seating area to complete the works. It must be said the combination of the newly architecturally designed playground which was designed to blend in with the fair green and the newly landscaped fair green look fabulous. A special word of thanks to the playground group who formed as a sub-group of the development association to oversee the designing, planning and fundraising of the works.

Roscliffe CourtThe residents of Roscliffe court were celebrating recently as the official opening of the estate took place. Madeline Taylor-Quinn, Mayor of Clare performed the ceremony on May the 20th 2009.
The opening was both for the new housing section and also a belated opening for the existing section of houses at the front which were built 31 years ago according to local resident Mrs Mandy O'Shea.
The estate has been entered into the councils "Best kept estate in Clare" competition by the proud residents and by the looks of it, it will be a strong contender. The renewed look of Roscliffe court should also help enormously with Ballynacally's Tidy Towns competition this year as it looks so well.
Below are some pictures taken of the litter free estate and some of the features residents have recently added, well done to the newly formed committee of local residents for their work and the official opening.

Frosty spell
The recent frosty weather on the run up to christmas caught a lot of unfortunate locals by surprise. The side roads were treacherous and along with the National and Secondary school closures there were many minor accidents. Several accidents took place on the cranny road close to the village, whilst many drivers were unable to travel up the mount road. Thankfully nobody was hurt.
