Tidy Towns News
At the Fifth meeting of the tidy towns committee the group discussed the delegation of proposed works. A large group attended the meeting and more help will always be welcome.
Teams were organised for the planting of flowers, litter picking, and painting works and general tidy up work
The committee have big plans for flower planting this year and everyhousehold can play a big part by putting flowers out for the June deadline.

Plans were also outlined for landscaping the fairgreen after the playground is finished including a new sculptured seat. (late July) Financial help for this work has been secured by the newly formed Clare local development company and a special flower bed depicting our relationship with the water and island life is to be created at the village entrance.
The committee would like to thank all who turned out over the gloriousJune bank holiday weekend to carry out lots of last minute jobs prior to the June 1st deadline, and all those who have been working on the Monday and Wednesday evenings on the run up to June, well done the village looks great.
Remember we are working hard towards winning a gold medal this year and hopefully taking the overall title of "Irelands Tidiest Town", it is a community effort and we can not do it without YOU......

New Playground
The playground opened (unofficially) on the 30th May. Installation works are now completed. A perimeter fence has been erected and all play items/structures have been fitted. Grass matting has been laid and the playground commitee are waiting for newly sown grass to establish before opening the project. The Development association are now in the process of having the fair green landscaped and fit a stone sculptured seating area to complete the works. It should look fabulous when complete. Well done to the playground group.

Roscliffe Court
The residents of Roscliffe court were celebrating recently as the official opening of the estate took place. Madeline Taylor-Quinn, Mayor of Clare performed the ceremony on May the 20th 2009.
The opening was both for the new housing section and also a belated opening for the existing section of houses at the front which were built 31 years ago according to local resident Mrs Mandy O'Shea.
The estate has been entered into the councils "Best kept estate in Clare" competition by the proud residents and by the looks of it, it will be a strong contender. The renewed look of Roscliffe court should also help enormously with Ballynacally's Tidy Towns competition this year as it looks so well.
Below are some pictures taken of the litter free estate and some of the features residents have recently added, well done to the newly formed committee of local residents for their work and the official opening.

Jerome and Nicola, two tourists on a cycling trip from Lille in northern France on-route from Shannon, bed down for the night in the
fairgreen before heading on via kilimer to visit the west Kerry penninsula where
they scattered the ashes of their friend who they say loved Ireland but did not get the chance to visit. |
