When a selection of local children were asked what bullying was they answered..........

Darren McMahon, Senior infants........
Q. What is bullying?
A. "a boy in my classroom started hitting people with a stick and they cried and it made them feel bad. The teacher was cross at him and told the boy off but he was cheeky to the teacher and so he lost his star, he is always being bold and he is not my friend"

Shane McMahon, 2nd class student......
Q. What is bullying?
A. "Giving out, kicking people, knocking them down, shoving, fighting, not being kind to other people, not letting them be your friend, using bad language at people, laughing at people when they are crying, not letting other kids play games, taking stuff that belongs to others and not giving it back.
Nobody wants to play with a bully except another bully and I wont be friends with a bully, they make you feel bad".

Rachel Harrison, 4th class student..........
Q. What is bullying?
A. "Its calling names, pushing, ganging up on people, hurting peoples feelings and leaving people out"........ She quoted the saying learned at school... "NO...GO and TELL"

Laura Kelly, 6th class student..........
Q. What is bullying?

A. Bullying is really sad,
it makes people really mad
it happens everywhere, it isn't really fair
You can see it in their eyes, they'll be asking why

Louise Kelly, 1st year student..........
Q. What is bullying?

A. Bullying is where a person or person's call you names, isolate you, take your bag and books and hide them just for fun, don't put up with them, tell someone.
A bully is someone who has low self esteem and finds fault with you because they want to feel good about themselves.
