  Festival Day 2005

In accordance with the 2004 development plan drawn up and launched in 2004, Ballynacally development association engaged the services of Flan Spaight to provide training on how to sucessfully organise and run a summer festival early in 2005. A large group of people volunteered to take part in this training with representatives from most of the other local clubs/organisations. Training took place for 2 hours once a week for 12-13 weeks and included a night activity on team building for the group. (Team building pics here ) It was hoped that communication skills and group roles would be improved after training.

With financial support from Rural resource development and sponsorship from many local business's as well as fantastic weather over the weekend, the group produced a fantastic festival which will remain in many peoples memory for a long time. Events took place such as soccer tournaments, a celebrity soocer match, field day with pig races and fancy dress parade etc, pub quiz, treasure hunt, music from all pubs, singers night and a concert with Noel Hill.

The group although smaller held another sucessful festival in 2006 and hope to carry out yearly summer festivals but need much more support to do so, as the current committee are very busy with other necessary projects from the 2004 development plan/tidy towns competition and can not dedicate their time to the festival. In short more help is needed in order to run future festivals, please dont be disgruntled if festivals do not go aheah instead make a call early and pledge your support. Email or make diret contact with anybody on the "about us" page.....

Below are a selection of photgraphs which represent the activities and fun of the 2005 festival (and some 2006), sorry if we missed you....
