Our ethos!
Our ethos is to work for the benefit of our school children in a constructive, relaxed and friendly environment where every member is valued and has an equal say.
Who are we?
Ballynacally Parents council is a structure through which parents of local National school children can work together for the best education for their children. The voluntary committee members work with the principal, staff and the board of management, building an effective partnership between home and school.
Why did we set up?
Parents like to be involved with and have some say in the education of their children. The Education act 1998 26 (1) encourages and recognises the value of parents councils stating that membership is open to all school childrens parents and it says members shall promote the interests of the students in co-operation with the school stall and board of management.
The education act also states that the committee of the parents council shall advise the principal on matters relating to the school and adopt a programe of activities which will promote the involvement of the parents in the operation of the school in consultation with the principal.
Our aims & objectives are to;
- Gain knowledge from parents about the kind of activities that may promote parental involvement and partnership for the benefit of the students
- Find out from pupils how the parents council can be of help to them
- Consult with parents to elicit their views on matters relating to the school
- Consult and advise the principal and board of management
